Why Study in the Czech Republic?
LOCATION
The Czech Republic is located in the heart of Europe with easy access to major Central European
cities (Berlin, Bratislava, Budapest, Cracow, Dresden, Munich, Vienna...).
CULTURE AND LIFE
Due to its geographical location the Czech Republic is situated in the crossing of cultures. The life
of the country was historically formed mainly by Slavonic, German (Austrian) and Jewish influence. It resulted
in a rich Central-European culture heritage and lifestyle.
HISTORY
A complicated history of the area of the Czech Republic still fascinates its visitors as it reflects
major historical developments in Europe and in the world.
TRANSITION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
A return to democracy and free market economy that has started with the Velvet Revolution of
1989 is an interesting process of fast going changes that bring opportunities as well as challenges. The Czech
Republic became a new member of European Union in 2004 and belongs to the fastest growing economies in Europe.
QUALITY
High quality education and research, especially in sciences, engineering and medicine, has a long tradition
in the Czech Republic. Valuable knowledge and skills acquired in many fields at local school and research
institutions and international and cultural experience helps to succeed in the globalized world.
VALUE
Economic aspects play role as well. The price level of the Czech Republic is significantly lower that the one
of most Western European countries but the quality of service has usually Western standards, especially in large
cities like Prague, Brno or Olomouc. The combination of low-priced services and good quality is attractive
for young people and international students.
