Project Days at Czech High Schools

English Teaching Assistants organize special project days at their Czech host institutions. On May 13, a project day focused on creativity in English language took place at Gymnázium and High School Ledeč nad Sázavou. Seven Fulbrighters participated in the event. Students composed tunes with music composers Alena Akse and Andrew Harlan, they created a piece of art in a workshop by painter Elise Wright, interpreted protest art with museum arts educator Rilie Atkinson, wrote personal affirmation cards with yoga and mindfulness instructor Zoe Barany, drew maps of Ledeč nad Sázavou with orienteering enthusiast Chanah Haigh, and solved a murder mystery with their Ledeč-based Teaching Assistant Beatrice Voorhees. This way, Czech high school students meet more native speakers, learn about various parts of the U.S. and about various career paths.
